What Is This New Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatment?
The "Laser Facial" treatment is a two-stage process that aims to freshen the complexion by removing the outer layers of dead skin cells from the client's face. It gradually reduces the skin's pore size and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, this technique is often effective in removing blackheads and whiteheads. The treatment requires no downtime, allowing clients to resume their normal activities immediately.
How Does The Treatment Work?
The treatment begins by applying carbon paste to the surface of the skin. The outer dead cells of the epidermis readily absorb the carbon, while the deeper living cells of the skin do not absorb the paste. Using a special tip, the carbon absorbs the 1064nm wavelength of the laser, causing vaporisation of both the carbon and the dead epithelial cells through the Q-switched pulse. The carbon also interacts with the lining of open pores, often removing black and whiteheads. The treatment provides an immediate effect similar to a gentle laser peel.
Sometimes, the treatment is carried out as a single session, especially when the client is attending a special event. The fragmentation of the carbon generates slight heat, allowing it to penetrate the dermis and induce collagen denaturation. A series of treatments spanning over six months or more can stimulate new collagen formation.
The second stage of the treatment involves firing the Nd: YAG laser without any carbon paste. This allows the Nd: YAG laser energy to deeply penetrate the dermis, causing micro-injury to the collagen and elastin fibres. Consequently, collagen and elastin fibres regenerate and remodel, further reducing the appearance of fine lines.
