The "Laser Facial" treatment is a two-stage process that freshens the complexion by removing the outer layers of dead skin cells from the client's face. Clients experience no downtime and can resume normal activities immediately after the treatment. How Does The Treatment Work? The treatment begins by applying carbon paste to the surface of the skin. The outer dead cells of the epidermis absorb the carbon, while the deeper living cells do not. Using a special tip, the 1064nm wavelength of the laser is absorbed by the carbon, which is vaporised by the Q-switched pulse along with the dead epithelial cells. The lining of open pores also reacts with the carbon, often removing black and whiteheads. The treatment has an immediate effect similar to a gentle laser peel. This treatment is often performed as a single session, especially when the client attends a special event. The carbon fragmentation generates slight heat, penetrating the dermis and leading to collagen denaturation. Treatments spanning over six months or more can stimulate new collagen formation. The second stage of the treatment involves firing the Nd: YAG laser without any carbon paste, allowing the laser energy to penetrate deeply into the dermis and cause micro-injury to the collagen and elastin fibres. This process promotes collagen and elastin fibre regeneration and remodelling, further reducing the appearance of fine lines.
