Tadalafil 5mg Tablets
Prescription-Only Medication (POM)
Product Overview:
Tadalafil 5mg is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men and to manage symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Tadalafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, which helps to achieve and maintain an erection. For BPH, it helps relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder, improving urinary symptoms. Tadalafil is known for its long duration of action, providing effects lasting up to 36 hours, making it a popular choice for those seeking a flexible treatment.
Indications:
Tadalafil 5mg is prescribed for the treatment of:
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in adult men.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), to reduce symptoms such as frequent urination, difficulty starting urination, and urgency.
Dosage and Administration:
Erectile Dysfunction (ED): The recommended starting dose is 10mg, taken as needed at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The dose may be adjusted to 5mg or 20mg depending on the effectiveness and tolerability.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): The recommended dose is 5mg once daily, taken at the same time each day, with or without food.
Daily Use for ED: Tadalafil 5mg can also be prescribed as a daily dose for continuous use, particularly for those who engage in sexual activity more than twice a week.

Results from Tadalafil 5mg typically appear within 30 to 60 minutes after ingestion. The medication enhances blood flow, aiding in achieving and maintaining an erection when sexually stimulated. For optimal results, it is recommended to take Tadalafil on an empty stomach. Individual response times may vary, so consult your healthcare provider for personalised advice tailored to your needs.
The effects of Tadalafil 5mg typically last for up to 36 hours, allowing for greater spontaneity in sexual activity. It is important to note that individual responses may vary based on factors such as overall health and concurrent medications. For optimal results, follow your healthcare provider's recommendations regarding dosage and usage.
Tadalafil 5mg is not suitable for everyone. While effective for treating erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia, it may pose risks for individuals with certain medical conditions, such as severe heart problems or those taking nitrates. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting Tadalafil to ensure it’s safe and appropriate for your specific health needs. Personalised advice helps maximise benefits while minimising potential side effects.
Tadalafil 5mg can cause side effects, including headaches, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, and back pain. These are generally mild and temporary. However, serious side effects like sudden vision loss or an erection lasting longer than four hours require immediate medical attention. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting tadalafil to ensure it’s safe for you.
Combining Tadalafil 5mg with other treatments should be approached cautiously. Consult your healthcare provider to assess compatibility with medications for conditions like hypertension or heart issues. It's essential to avoid potential interactions, especially with nitrates, as this may lead to serious side effects. Your clinician can help determine the safest and most effective treatment plan tailored to your needs.
After taking Tadalafil 5mg, it's important to stay hydrated and avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it can enhance side effects. Monitor for any unusual reactions or prolonged erections lasting over four hours. If you experience severe headaches, dizziness, or vision changes, consult a healthcare professional promptly. Follow your clinician's advice regarding usage frequency and any additional lifestyle modifications for optimal results. Prioritising aftercare ensures safe and effective use of Tadalafil.
