Product Overview:
Norgeston is a progestogen-only contraceptive pill, containing Levonorgestrel 30mcg. It is used for the prevention of pregnancy in women who prefer a progestogen-only option. Norgeston works by thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching the egg, altering the lining of the womb to prevent implantation, and inhibiting ovulation (the release of an egg) in some cases. It provides a reliable, hormone-based method of contraception for women.
Indications:
Norgeston is prescribed for contraception in women who require a progestogen-only contraceptive, especially those who cannot or prefer not to use combined hormonal methods. It is also suitable for women who are breastfeeding or have contraindications to oestrogen-containing contraceptives.
Dosage and Administration:
Take one tablet of Norgeston daily, at the same time each day.
The tablets should be taken continuously, without a break between packs, unless otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider.
Norgeston can be taken with or without food. Consistency in timing is essential to ensure maximum effectiveness.
If a tablet is missed, refer to the patient information leaflet or consult a healthcare professional for guidance on the appropriate action to take.
Warnings and Precautions:
Norgeston should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Not suitable for women who are pregnant, or have a history of certain conditions such as blood clots, liver disease, or breast cancer.
Speak to your doctor if you experience any symptoms such as abdominal pain, leg swelling, or unusual headaches.
Norgeston does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), so barrier methods should be used to reduce the risk of STIs.
Side Effects:
Common side effects may include irregular bleeding or spotting, mood changes, headaches, acne, and breast tenderness. For a complete list of potential side effects, please refer to the patient information leaflet or speak with your healthcare provider.
Packaging:
Norgeston is available in a pack containing 35 tablets.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children.
Legal Information:
Norgeston is a prescription-only medication (POM). It should be taken as directed by your healthcare provider. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
