Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly injectable medication used for weightmanagement under clinical supervision. It works by activating two key hormones—GLP-1 and GIP receptors—which help regulate blood sugar levels, slow digestion, and reduce appetite.
How Mounjaro Works
Tirzepatide mimics the effects of naturally occurring hormones involved in glucose control and appetite regulation. It helps:
Lower blood glucose levels after meals
Reduce appetite and calorie intake
Promote steady and sustained weight loss
Improve overall insulin sensitivity
Dosage & Administration
Inject once weekly under the skin (subcutaneous use) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
Start with 2.5 mg once weekly for the first 4 weeks, then increase as advised by your prescriber.
Always use exactly as prescribed. Do not adjust your dose without consulting your clinician.
Who Can Use Mounjaro
Mounjaro is suitable for adults:
With type 2 diabetes to improve blood sugar control, or
Under clinical assessment for weight management, where prescribed as part of a structured medical programme that includes diet and physical activity.
Possible Side Effects
Common side effects include:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or constipation
Decreased appetite
Fatigue or mild injection site reactions
Most side effects lessen over time as your body adjusts. If you experience persistent or severe symptoms, contact your healthcare professional.
Storage
Store in a refrigerator (2°C–8°C).
May be kept at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 21 days.
Do not freeze. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
