EpiPen – Emergency Adrenaline Auto-Injector for Anaphylaxis
EpiPen is an adrenaline auto-injector designed for emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis). It is essential for individuals who are at risk of life-threatening allergies, such as those triggered by food, insect stings, or medications. EpiPen provides rapid relief by injecting a dose of adrenaline (epinephrine) into the body, helping to reverse the dangerous symptoms of anaphylaxis, including swelling of the airways, difficulty breathing, and a drop in blood pressure.
How It Works:
The EpiPen contains adrenaline, which works by:
Opening up the airways to help with breathing
Reducing swelling in the face, throat, and lips
Raising blood pressure to combat anaphylactic shock
EpiPen helps to stabilize the body during an anaphylactic emergency, giving you time to seek immediate medical help. It’s designed for quick and easy use, even by people who are not medical professionals.
How to Use:
Remove the cap: Take off the blue safety cap to prepare the device.
Inject: Hold the EpiPen in your fist with the orange tip facing downward, then inject the device into the outer thigh (through clothing if necessary).
Hold for 10 seconds to ensure the full dose is delivered.
Seek immediate medical attention: After using EpiPen, always call emergency services or go to the hospital immediately, even if symptoms improve.
Active Ingredient:
Adrenaline (epinephrine) – A hormone that rapidly reverses the symptoms of anaphylaxis.
