How to use the Accu-Chek FastClix finger pricker
To use your Accu-Chek FastClix, first ensure that a lancet drum is in place, and insert a new one if necessary. Select the penetration depth by turning the end of the device, to choose a setting from 1 – 11. Change to a new lancet by sliding the lever on the body of the device back and forth, if necessary. Before testing, wash and dry your hands thoroughly, then hold the finger pricker in place on your fingertip and click once to obtain a blood sample. Read manufacturer’s instructions thoroughly before use.
Can I use this lancing device on other areas of the body?
Accu-Chek FastClix can be used for Alternate Site Testing (AST), which is when you take blood samples from other areas of the body for blood sugar testing. However, you will need to use a specially designed AST cap to do this, which is available from Accu-Chek upon request.
How many times can I use this product?
The Accu-Chek FastClix finger pricker will last for around 5,000 finger pricks before needing to be replaced. Each lancet drum contains 6 lancets, which are loaded into the pricker so you don’t have to handle individual lancets.
When should this product not be used?
The Accu-Chek FastClix finger pricker should not be used for more than one person, as there is a risk of cross-infection. Do not attempt to re-select a used lancet or use a lancet that has been used by another person. Do not use expired lancets, as they may no longer be sterile and could cause infection.
Could this product cause an allergic reaction?
Although allergic reactions to the lancets included with this product are possible, they are extremely rare. These lancets are mane from stainless steel 1.4301, which is approved for medical purposes and contains 18% chromium and 9% nickel.
How to store this product
Store in a cool, dry place. Store in the original packaging, do not use lancets if the expiry date printed on the packaging has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Lancet drums can be disposed of in the regular household waste. Dispose of used lancets so that they cannot cause injury, e.g. with your local sharps disposal service.
