FemTouch Aftercare Form
Introduction:
FemTouch is an advanced CO2 laser procedure designed to improve vaginal health. As with all treatments, following the appropriate aftercare instructions is crucial to maximise benefits and prevent complications.
Immediate Aftercare (First 24-48 Hours):
- Abstinence: Refrain from any sexual activity for a minimum of 72 hours or as advised by your practitioner to allow the treated area to heal.
- Hygiene: Ensure that the vaginal area remains clean. Use lukewarm water to cleanse the area gently, avoiding any soaps or cleansers unless specified by your clinician.
- Comfort Measures: It's common to experience a slight warm sensation or minor discomfort post-treatment. Over-the-counter pain relief, such as paracetamol, can be taken as per the recommended dose if required. However, always consult your practitioner first.
Continued Care (Days 3 and Beyond):
- Maintain Hygiene: Continue with gentle cleaning routines and avoid using douches or other vaginal products unless approved by your practitioner.
- Monitor Discharge: Some women may notice a watery discharge or light spotting after the procedure. This is normal and should resolve in a few days. If it persists or if the discharge develops an odour, consult your clinician.
- Avoid Swimming & Hot Tubs: Stay out of swimming pools, hot tubs, and saunas for at least one week to prevent potential infections.
- Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting, cotton underwear to allow the area to breathe and prevent irritation.
Potential Complications to Monitor:
- Signs of Infection: If you experience increased redness, itching, unusual discharge, or swelling, these might suggest an infection. Contact your practitioner promptly.
- Unusual Discomfort: Any escalated pain or discomfort beyond the initial post-treatment period should be communicated to your clinician.
- Allergic Reactions: Although rare, any rash, hives, or severe itching should be reported immediately.
Follow-Up Appointments:
Ensure you attend all scheduled post-treatment appointments to assess healing and discuss any concerns. Regular follow-ups might be necessary to achieve and maintain optimal results.
